Synopsis

MEGAN MONAGHAN, Juliette. A native of Philadelphia and a young soprano of exceptional promise, Megan Monaghan was recently hailed by Opera News "...A voice of pure silver, easily negotiating coloratura flights of fancy with exquisite musicianship..." for her role of Gilda in Dayton Opera’s production of Rigoletto. Ms. Monaghan’s recent engagements included Juliette in Anchorage Opera’s Romeo et Juliette, Mabel in Glimmerglass Opera's The Pirates of Penzance, Micaëla in Carmen with Dayton Opera, Floriana in Zazà at Alice Tully Hall Lincoln Center, Gilda in Rigoletto with Madison Opera and Florida Grand Opera. Ms. Monaghan also recorded Maestro Lorin Maazel’s new opera 1984 with the conductor before its’ premiere at Covent Garden. Upcoming performances include Euridice in L'Orfeo with Glimmerglass Opera, Musetta in Opera Pacific's La Bohème, and Juliette with the Wichita Grand Opera. In addition, Ms. Monaghan has performed in a concert at the White House. Throughout her career, she has been awarded first place in many competitions.
Hector Sandoval, Romeo. Dashing Mexican tenor, Hector Sandoval, graduated in Vienna from the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna, Austria. He debuted as the Duke of Mantua, and in 2001 the critics nominated him as Singer of the Year for his interpretation of such operas as Rigoletto and Werther. Since than he has sung in the opera houses of Vienna and Dresden, as well as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, just to name a few. He made his U.S. debut in 1998 with the Washington National Opera as Cardona in Donna Francisquita under the baton of Placido Domingo. Mr. Sandoval is making his debut with the Wichita Grand Opera in this production of Romeo and Juliet.
