Synopsis

Martin Mazik - Conductor. The Slovak maestro graduated from the Academy of Music in Bratislava and the University of Music in Vienna, Austria. He has been a frequent guest conductor with the State Philharmonic Orchestra in Kosice and is principle conductor of the Slovakia National Opera. Last season, he magnificently conducted Wichita Grand Opera’s opening production of Don Giovanni and the season finale of La Boheme.  With more than 500 performances under his baton in Europe, Maestro Mazik was invited to the United States by Parvan Bakardiev to make his symphonic debut with the Palm Beach Symphony in 2000, and his U.S opera debut with Wichita Grand Opera in 2004

MARCO PELLE, stage director/ choreography. Mr. Pelle started his training in Vicenza, Italy before moving to Monaco, Monte Carlo to train at the Academie de Danse Classique Grace Kelly under Marika Besobrasova. In 1998, he moved to New York. Working as a choreographer, he has worked extensively in opera. His productions include  Aida in Lebanon at the Baalbeck Festival for the Royal Family of Jordan, Carmen at Teatro Regio in Parma, Italy, the “Masked Ball” at the Detroit Opera House and many others. He has created many new works, including Solitudes that debuted in April 2003 at the Florence Gould Hall in New York and performed at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. He has worked in various opera houses as assistant stage director and made his stage direction debut in the Wichita Grand Opera production of I Pagliacci last year. Romeo and Juliet will mark Mr. Pelle’s second production that he has undertaken this role.
