HECTOR SANDOVAL, Riccardo. Dashing Mexican tenor Hector Sandoval graduated from the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna, Austria. He debuted as the Duke of Mantua, and in 2001 the critics nominated him as Singer of the Year for his interpretation of such operas as Rigoletto and Werther. Since than he has sung in the opera houses of Vienna and Dresden, as well as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, just to name a few. He made his U.S. debut in 1998 with the Washington National Opera as Cardona in Donna Francisquita under the baton of Placido Domingo. Mr. Sandoval has become a Wichita audience favorite following his brilliant performance in Romeo and Juliet last season.
ZVETELINA VASSILEVA, Amelia

This Metropolitan Opera soprano is “a thrilling dramatic soprano” and has “beautiful, sword-like soprano tone allied to real musical sensibility” according to the London Sunday Times.  Considered a Verdi specialist, recent seasons have included Leonora in Il trovatore and Musetta in La Bohème at The Met, as well as Mimi in La Bohème on tour in Japan and Amelia in Un ballo in maschera in Toronto.  Upcoming performances include the title role of Aida in a new production with Houston Grand Opera and Aida once again with the Welsh National Opera.  Amelia is Ms. Vassileva’s debut with Wichita Grand Opera.
