| HECTOR SANDOVAL, Riccardo. Dashing
Mexican tenor Hector Sandoval graduated from the University of Music and
Dramatic Arts in Vienna, Austria. He debuted as the Duke of Mantua, and in 2001
the critics nominated him as Singer of the Year for his interpretation of such
operas as Rigoletto and Werther. Since than he has sung in the
opera houses of Vienna and Dresden, as well as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in
Mexico, just to name a few. He made his U.S. debut in 1998 with the Washington
National Opera as Cardona in Donna Francisquita under the baton of
Placido Domingo. Mr. Sandoval has become a Wichita audience favorite following
his brilliant performance in Romeo and Juliet last season. |

ZVETELINA VASSILEVA, Amelia.
This
Metropolitan Opera soprano is “a thrilling dramatic soprano” and has “beautiful,
sword-like soprano tone allied to real musical sensibility” according to the
London Sunday Times. Considered a
Verdi specialist, recent seasons have included Leonora in Il trovatore and Musetta in La Bohème at The Met, as well as Mimi in
La Bohème
on
tour in Japan and Amelia in Un ballo in
maschera in Toronto. Upcoming
performances include the title role of Aida in a new production with Houston
Grand Opera and Aida once again with the Welsh National Opera. Amelia is Ms. Vassileva’s debut with
Wichita Grand Opera. |
