Mainstage Audition for 2010-2011 Season

There are four audition categories, each with requirements and applications. An accompanist will be provided, but you may bring your own accompanist if you wish.

Chorus  |  Young Artists  |  Resident Artists  |  Principal Roles

There is a $25 non-refundable application processing fee, and a $50 deposit to hold an audition date and time, which will be returned to you at the time of your audition. These two fees must be made in two separate checks and accompany the application form when it is submitted. The $25 check will be cashed and the $50 check will only be cashed if the applicant fails to appear for audition.

Chorus auditions are open to trained singers in all voice categories.

Requirements: One aria or art song sung in its original language of Italian, German, or French.

Required material: Detailed resume, headshot, cover letter, and a completed application.

Young Artists: Click for Young Artist application
Kansas based opera performance graduates are eligible to audition for the Young Artists Program. This program is designed to help guide young singers in their transition from students to professional opera singers. With the goal to develop vibrant and long-lasting opera careers, this program provides apprentices with: professional “on stage” experience singing in the chorus; working with conductors and coaches; participation in workshops and seminars; and opportunities to perform with, and learn from national and international opera stars.

Requirements: 4 arias in 4 different languages from the standard opera repertoire.

Required material: Detailed resume, headshot, cover letter, 1 review (optional), and a completed application.

Resident Artists: Click for Resident Artist Application
Regionally based opera singers and professors of voice are invited to audition for the WGO Resident Artists Program. Resident artists are provided with opportunities to expand and enhance their professional careers in the region where they are employed, and become vital contributors to the growth and success of their regional opera company. They may be contracted to perform principal, secondary, minor roles, or to sing in the chorus. Remuneration is based contractual agreement.

Requirements: 4 arias in 4 different languages from the standard opera repertoire.

Professional opera singers who live outside of the Midwestern region of the United States may audition for principal and secondary parts.

Requirements: 4 arias in 4 different languages from the standard opera repertoire.
