Set in 15th century Spain, Verdi’s searing epic of love and vengeance focuses on the struggle between the young Count di Luna and the rebel Manrico, the girl Leonora – who loves Manrico but is desired by the Count – and the gypsy Azucena, who has vowed vengeance against the Count’s father. WGO’s world-class cast is led by renowned Australian tenor Julian Gavin and Met Opera star Zvetelina Vassileva.
