MEGAN BARRERA

Cuban-Puerto Rican Soprano Megan Barrera makes her Wichita Grand Opera debut as Norina this season. A native of Miami, FL, Ms. Barrera has sung a number of leading roles in the United States and in Europe, including Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème. She also recently sang the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto with La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, Italy, and has performed with Florida Grand Opera for the past two seasons. In 2011, Ms. Barrera made her debut with the Festival South Opera Young Artist Program and Opéra Louisiane singing the role of Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts Degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
