Exciting New Partnership to Bring World-Class Performers to South Central Kansas

MULVANE, Kan. – Wichita Grand Opera Inc. and the Kansas Star Arena today announced an exciting new partnership to support the arts and bring world-renowned acts to south central Kansas. Celtic Woman: Home for Christmas - The Symphony Tour, scheduled for December 13th, will be the first act supported by this new partnership.

“We are honored to partner with the Wichita Grand Opera,” said Tim Lanier, Kansas Star Arena Director. “Our goal is to promote and expand the Arts base in the Greater Wichita area through this partnership. We are very excited about the potential impact we can have locally by providing a much larger venue to promote the Arts in our community.”

Since Celtic Woman's debut in 2004, this unique all-female ensemble continues to have mainstream success without the aid of traditional sales drivers such as radio or video airplay. No other group of this particular adult contemporary genre can claim more than 7 million CDs/DVDs sold worldwide, two top 10 album debuts, 3 Gold and Platinum albums and more than 3 million concert tickets sold. Their widely popular “Symphony Tour” showcases the pure angelic voices of Celtic Woman in a dynamic live music experience accompanied by a full symphony orchestra.

The Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra, featuring 46 musicians, will perform on stage with Celtic Woman on December 13 at the Kansas Star Arena. “We are excited to embark on a new collaboration with the Kansas Star Arena, and continue our tradition of bringing mega-stars to Kansas to make them more accessible to our enthusiastic regional audiences,” said Wichita Grand Opera CEO Parvan Bakardiev.

The Wichita Grand Opera’s new 2013-2014 Season of 11 performances, which runs December through June, showcases two superstar concerts, three operas, and two ballets. For the full season of productions visit the WGO website at www.wichitagrandopera.org.

Tickets for Celtic Woman: Home for Christmas - The Symphony Tour are $49, $79, and $100, and go on sale Friday, September 13th at 10:00 am at the Kansas Star Arena Box Office or at www.kansasstararena.com. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available for sale at the Wichita Grand Opera Box Office for WGO patrons at (316) 262-8054.
