The Chairman's Opera Ball

For the past decade, the Annual Chairman's Opera Ball has been the social event in the region. This year’s Ball will be chaired by Mary Lynn (Beech) Oliver, wife of Chairman Bill Oliver. Mrs. Oliver, daughter of Walter and Olive Ann Beech, founders of Beech Aviation, combines her father’s love of adventure and her mother’s commitment to building the arts in Wichita. She is also an accomplished historian, collaborating with Wall Street Journal Reporter Dennis Farney on the book “The Barnstormer and the Lady,” immortalizing the lives and accomplishments of her parents.

This will be the 10th annual Chairman’s Opera Ball. Among the Ball’s guests of honor have been such luminaries as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Joyce DiDonato, and Samuel Ramey. All proceeds for the event go to benefit the Wichita Grand Opera’s young and resident artist education programs and productions.
