Michael Anthony McGee
Bass-baritone Michael Anthony McGee has sung leading roles throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Recent operatic engagements include William/Ahtukukoo in the world premier of MIGRATIONS by Will Todd for Welsh National Opera, Scindia LA ROI DE LAHORE with Dorset Opera, Zurga PEARL FISHERS for Israeli Opera, Francesco del Giocondo MONA LISA with American Symphony Orchestra, 2nd Soldier SALOME at the Bard Music Festival, First Nazarene SALOME with the Dallas Symphony and Horatio/1st Gravedigger HAMLET with the Cincinnati Symphony. Recent concert engagements include Mahler Kindertotenlieder with Orchestra Now! at MOMA, Orff Carmina Burana with Seattle Symphony and the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Britten War Requiem with the Hong Kong Philharmonic and Vaughan Williams Five Mystical Songs with the Dallas Symphony. Other engagement include Winston Smith in Lorin Maazel 1984 at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, OrestIPHIGÉNIE EN TAURIDE at Santa Fe Opera, Morales CARMEN at the Teatro Petruzzelli, Ortel DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NURNBERG at Tanglewood and the title-role SWEENEY TODD with the National Symphony Orchestra Mr. McGee earned top prizes at the Lissner Vocal Competition, Liederkranz Foundation Competition as well as the George London Award. Mr. McGee holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music and a Doctorate of Music from the University of North Texas.
